A rarely seen brightness emanates from the city of Puerto Maldonado one morning any. The sky of the forest is not like any other, it rises over a unique territory in the world and predisposes the mind to the experience that awaits us. Puerto Maldonado is the prelude to one of the richest and most impressive scenarios on the planet, gateway to a different ecosystem, from this city we can depart to three extraordinary reserves: the Manu Biosphere Reserve, the Tambopata National Reserve and the National Park Bahuaja-Sonene.
In each of them, lovers of nature tourism will see their dreams come true. The diversity of fauna and flora that this part of Peru holds is one of the highest per square meter of the earth. Thousands of species of butterflies and birds, hundreds of species of mammals; a considerable amount of endemic species, plus one of the forests in the best state of conservation of the planet are by far the main courses of this experience. It is also possible to find immense and ancient trees, beautiful lakes, unique native communities and landscapes with the Tambopata River as a colossal frame that simply take your breath away.
If we are visiting the city in Puerto Maldonado, we have some good options. In the main square we find the Mirador 42 meters high from where you can see the Tambopata River and the Madre de Dios River. Very close to the airport is the Zoocriadero of butterflies: El Japipi, in it, thanks to a small tour it is possible to know the most representative species of butterflies in the area.
